About

Hide and Collars

Let me tell you about Hide and Collars and introduce myself to you.
I created Hide and Collars in the year 2000.

I realised that there was a shortage of good quality leather dog collars and leads.
So, I decided to design and make a range of collars and leads for mans best friend, to suit most breeds and their needs… quality, longevity, durability and a little extra too.
It is all about Quality with style.
I have been involved with and owned horses all my life, so my knowledge of good quality, strong leather and quality workmanship was my starting point.
All my dog collars and leads are entirely made by hand in my workshop, using traditional methods, hand cut and hand stitched using the best quality English Bridle Leather from the best UK tanneries.

Making special items for our four legged friends is something I love to do, so please call me and have a chat if you have something in mind that you can not see on my website 01430 879524 or email: sales@hideandcollars.co.uk

I have made collars and leads for films and the dogs that work for us ‘the public’ for a living. Dogs all over the globe are wearing Hide and Collars leather goods.

CARING FOR YOUR LEATHER COLLARS AND LEADS.

I can not emphasise the importance of caring for your leather items enough.

I recommend treating your items with a good quality leather care conditioner like ‘Sedgwicks leather care’ there are many other products out there and if you have a local saddlery shop near you I am sure they will be able to advise you.

It is important to feed the leather this will help maintain and keep the item supple and where water is involved in your dogs activity essential. I would treat your item once a day for a week and then once or twice a month (depending on activity’s). To remove any dirt or grease wipe over with a warm damp cloth then treat with your chosen leather care product. If the item has been for a dip in water with your dog, then let it dry naturally, never on heat, and then treat well. When you are doing this it is a good time to  check over the stitching and fittings and look for general wear and tear.  If you do nothing to care for your leather items you will reduce their lifetime and they will become dry and brittle and your dogs safety is a must. With regular care and attention your Hide and Collars leather goods will last many years.
